Traveltek has confirmed chief commercial officer Cressida Sergeant as its next chief executive, succeeding Mal Barritt.
Sergeant will take up the role on 1 October, following eight years with the company. Barritt is stepping down at the end of November after more than seven years leading the business, during which Traveltek was acquired by Canadian software firm Juniper Group two years ago.
Sergeant has led the transformation of Traveltek’s commercial model and driven global growth, particularly in North America, where the opportunity for cruise technology remains significant.
“Her appointment reflects the strength of the team she has built and the growth trajectory she has already helped deliver,” Traveltek said.
“I am incredibly proud to take on the role of CEO and to lead Traveltek into its next chapter,” Sergeant said. “I’ve really enjoyed working alongside Mal for the last seven years, and I’m incredibly proud of what this team has achieved — Traveltek is a great blend of people, passion and innovation.
“My priority for the next chapter is to drive customer efficiency, by deepening connectivity for our customers and supplier partnerships. There is a significant opportunity for our customers through the greater benefits that come from being part of the Juniper Group ecosystem. Technology needs to provide more education and transparency to the travel industry, and I know our team and our customers have a fantastic future ahead.”
Barritt said: “After more than seven years, I feel the time is right for me to take on a new challenge. Traveltek has been a huge part of my life, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together as a team. We have navigated some very difficult times, built a great business and created a fantastic group of people.
“I am genuinely sad to leave, but I do so with enormous pride in what we have accomplished and complete confidence in Traveltek’s future. Most importantly, I am delighted to be handing the business to Cress.”
Barritt will remain in an advisory capacity until the end of November to support a smooth transition.
